We are now pleased to announce the launch of its largest project to date – a webisode series entitled Kindred. Dramatic. Engrossing. Chaotic. Kindred explores the lives of three twenty-something African-American women who are first cousins, as they navigate family, work and love against the gritty skyline of New York City.

Kindred is slated to launch in late November 2009, with an online debut along with a launch premiere event to be held in New York City. There will be six webisodes slated to rollout over an 8-week period for Season 1. A beta version of the site is live to allow for pre-buzz and promotional efforts at www.kindredseries.com. A teaser video is available now, with the full trailer being made available in late October.

We been working day and night, weekdays and weekends, literally every waking moment to get this project completed and out to you, our fans! We'll have more updates to come every week, as we lead up to the launch. In the meantime, here's how you can support us:

Here’s a quick briefing since our last post.

March 29, 2008

Casting #1 for our Multi-Cultural Webisode Series. We saw several promising actors, whose faces you will see in our series (stay tuned)!

April 13, 2008

We took a break from our hard work to travel to the Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield, CT to watch the premiere of Giancarlo Esposito’s first feature “Gospel Hill.” It was very moving. After answering questions from the audience and praising newcomer Ralph Green (a truly gifted individual), we took a piece of this inspirational night with us and drove back to NY charged with Giancarlo’s words of wisdom: “Be confident in the direction of your dreams!” Sistapac is right on track!

April 14, 2008

Casting #2 for our Webisode Series. A lot more folks came out to the Where Eagles Dare location than our first Harlem location. It was pretty cool being on the other side of the casting table. You really get to pinpoint the Dos and Hell Nos of auditioning. You also get to see how actors interpret sides by improvising and adlibbing. Some folks had us cracking up! We still have some roles to fill, so the hunt for the “perfect fit” continues.

April 23, 2008

Spike Lee’s Young Gun is on board as our new director! Michael A. Pinckney has worked as a PA on a number of Spike’s films, such as “Malcolm”, “Blade”, & “Clockers” and became AD on other Spike joints, such as “25th Hour”, “The Best Man”, “Hard Luck”, “She Hate Me”, “The Inside Man” and “Miracle at St Anna.” He has also written and directed a compilation of short films entitled “Shoot First ask questions later” all of which is available on DVD. His latest body of work is the “Hitchcockian” style thriller “You’re Nobody ‘till somebody kills you.”

April 26, 2008

Sistapac successfully shot one of our TV pilots - of course we’d love to disclose, but in due time! It was the quickest shoot ever and we’re pretty darn proud of it. Some mishaps could have been avoided, but thank goodness for a nearby grocery store and CVS. It also helped that we had the best crew in tow:

Danielle Murat our Director

Pat Ulysse of Unimix Productions – our DP

Michael Hurdle of Ahvex Studios – our Asst DP

Strong Armed Cory – our Boom pole operator (this job is torturous to the arms)

Well that’s all for now… we’ll be back with more (we won't take long to return and our next entry won't be as long either)! Thanks for reading and be blessed!

Maureen

Taking those artistic punches

Ok, so life takes over right. Between family, work, significant others, friends, pets and everybody in between, you have a lot of things in your life that take you away from the pursuit of your art. I won't call them distractions, because truly experiencing life is about the balance of all of these elements. Sometimes there's balance and most of the time there isn't. Sometimes you succeed and sometimes you don't. Priorities change all the time. One of things me and my SistaPAC "sisteren" decided was that in 2008, we were going to keep SistaPAC in our top three priorities when it came to our artistic pursuits. It doesn't trump or become more important than our personal artistic pursuits, but remains a priority because the success of this group helps the success of our personal endeavors. We are so blessed that three Black women can come together and have a meeting of the minds and hearts, especially when we are all so different. Our differences work and we appreciate the value that these difference bring to making our art better.

We've had a number of successes in our short tenure together, and continue to work hard towards even more successes. It is important to build your network and surround yourself of people with like-minds. Not folks who believes and thinks the way you do about everything, but people who have the same end-goal of success. People who will give time, money, sweat and blood to their artistic pursuits. As SistaPAC, we've found this within ourselves, but also continue to look beyond ourselves to build a circle of "like-minded artists." For our current project, we are looking for folks that are interested in success. We seek all types of folks for crew on our project, but also people who might not have a specific "skill" that just want to be down with a professional, quality production. If you think that applies to you, give us a holla at: sistapaccasting@gmail.com.
